# Introduction

*The Starship Armory, Vehicle and Starship Weapons for Exodus NDS. Source: https://exodusnds.com/sourcebooks/starship-armory/introduction*

A personal weapon is chosen by the person carrying it. A ship's weapon is chosen by the ship.

> **Every weapon has a mount, and the mount decides what can carry it.**

A freighter captain does not ask which gun is best. She asks what fits in two hardpoints, what the reactor can feed, and what the port authority will let her keep. This book is written to make those three questions quick to answer.

## What You Should Expect

**Four mounts.** Light, Standard, Heavy, and Capital. Each needs a hull of a certain Scale, and each roughly doubles the damage of the one before.

**Six technologies.** Kinetic, guided ordnance, beam, plasma, disruption, and gravitic. They are the six of *The Stellar Armory*, built larger. Each is good against one kind of defence and poor against another, and Chapter 15 has the table.

**One firing procedure.** Chapter 3 gives the attack, the damage order, critical hits, point defence, and missile locks in one place.

**Two scales.** One point of damage from a ship's gun is ten points from a rifle. Chapter 4 covers what happens when the two meet.

**Heat and power, if you want them.** Every entry prints both. Chapter 6 runs them. A table that does not want to track a reactor ignores two numbers and loses nothing else.

**Ground vehicles.** Tank guns, howitzers, rocket pods, and pintle guns sit beside the ship weapons, marked **Ground** where they cannot leave a planet.

**Defences.** Chapter 14 summarises armour, screens, point defence, and countermeasures, so that every weapon here has something to be measured against.

## Using This Book in Your Universe

**The names are generic.** A Universe renames freely, and a builder's catalogue may list three makes of the same Laser Battery.

**A Universe's own rules come first.** Where a Universe prints its own ship combat rules, use them, and use this book for the weapons.

**Scale follows the core rules.** Scale 2 is a fighter or a ground car, Scale 4 a large freighter or a corvette, Scale 6 a cruiser.

## What You Need

The **Exodus NDS core rules**. *The Stellar Armory* is useful for the crew's own weapons and is not required.
