# Yachts and Liners

*Viridian Ship Catalog, Refined Hulls of the Shoiyan Concord for Void Drifters. Source: https://exodusnds.com/sourcebooks/viridian/yachts-and-liners*

Hulls for people who travel in comfort and need the walls to keep quiet. Each is built around a protected interior, and neither is built to be repaired by whoever happens to be nearby.

##### The VN-43 Line
*Ring-and-Core hull in two revisions, VN-43C1 to VN-43C2. Scale 4, Civilian grade.*

The VN-43 is a diplomatic yacht: a principal's ship. A sealed salon, executive quarters and a Counter-Surveillance Suite sit in a ring around a protected core, so that a delegation can arrive, speak and leave without being overheard. It is not a fast ship and not an armed one. It is a quiet room that happens to fly.

**Revision notes.** **VN-43C1.** The first revision, with the salon, two luxury cabin modules, a galley, a counter-surveillance suite and a Medical Bay. The 120,000cr fit-out of the salon is a fitting in the price. **VN-43C2.** One more segment on the module ring, a larger sensor lattice dish on the core, one more Module Slot and one more System Point. The extra slot is open: most owners fit a second Medical Bay or another set of Passenger Berths.

**Common Variants.** Diplomatic yacht, Delegation ship, Executive transport, Treaty-bay tender, Private charter yacht.

##### The VN-53 Line

*Layered Shellcraft hull in two revisions, VN-53C1 to VN-53C2. Scale 5, Professional grade.*

Four hundred passengers ride ninety days in a VN-53 without once being reminded they are in vacuum. It is a luxury spaceliner built at Scale 5, two Scales under the liner class, for routes that cannot fill a Scale 7 hull. Charter lines, pilgrimages and medical cruises buy it, never individuals. It is the one Viridian line built to Professional grade, because no Civilian Scale 5 hull carries its Power and Heat margin.

**Revision notes.** **VN-53C1.** The published liner: two luxury cabin blocks, passenger berths, a promenade and observation deck, a Medical Bay, a galley and a Shuttle Bay. The 1,480,000cr cabin fit-out is a fitting in the price. **VN-53C2.** One more cabin tier on the promenade shell and a larger pair of thermal fins, for one more Module Slot and one more Heat Threshold. The C2 fit-out is 1,600,000cr.

**Common Variants.** Pilgrimage liner, Charter liner, Medical cruise ship, Embassy liner, Long-haul passenger ship.

##### At the Table: Receiving a Delegation

Use this when a crew delivers or receives a delegation aboard a VN-43, or meets one at a Concord dock.

**Aboard.** The Sealed Salon is the table. Communications from aboard take a Hard Electronics check to intercept, and Negotiation and Charm checks held in the salon add 1 Boon Die (this does not stack with Executive Quarters). The Counter-Surveillance Suite tells the crew when someone takes a Target Lock or an Active Scan on the yacht.

**At the dock.** A delegation in a Viridian ship is expected in Concord ports and read as well funded elsewhere. Give the crew a Boon Die on checks to clear a Concord customs desk, and a Bane Die in a Jaziri or Funtari port that has no reason to be polite.

**When the walls fail.** A listening device found in the salon is evidence of a serious breach of the delegation's trust. The principal will want to know who had the keys: the Sealed Salon is only as private as the yard that last serviced it (Chapter 4, The Service Seal).

**Pressure.** A principal who must finish a conversation before the dock clears, with an envoy from a rival power in the next berth, is an opposed Negotiation check against the clock. Give the crew a Boon Die for a good plan and a Bane Die for a late guest.
