Only the Exodus NDS Core Rules are published under the ORC License. Everything else Kaosweaver, Inc. publishes is copyright reserved. Kaosweaver, Inc. is generous with permission, so if you want to use something, just ask.

The Core Rules (ORC License)

The Exodus Narrative Dice System as written in the Exodus NDS Core Rules is Licensed Material under the ORC License. You may use, adapt, and build on that Licensed Material in your own work under the terms of the ORC License. The ORC License itself is published at https://paizo.com/orclicense.

The Licensed Material, the Reserved Material, and the attribution you must include are below, as they appear in the ORC License chapter of the Core Rules.

Exodus NDS Core Rules is published under the ORC License.

The ORC License allows you to freely use, adapt, and build upon the Licensed Material defined below, provided you comply with the terms of the ORC License. A full copy of the ORC License is available at https://paizo.com/orclicense.

Licensed Material — The following elements of this document are designated as Licensed Material under the ORC License and may be freely used in your own works:

  • The dice pool resolution mechanic, including pool construction, the cancellation system, and difficulty ratings
  • The six symbol types (Success, Failure, Boon, Bane, Breakthrough, Calamity) as mechanical concepts
  • The six die types (Boon Die, Bane Die, Ability Die, Trial Die, Mastery Die, Crisis Die) and their face distributions as described herein
  • The structured play framework including action economy, adversary tiers, and vehicle characteristics
  • The Story Points mechanic as described herein
  • All other game rules and mechanics described in this document

Reserved Material — The following elements are not Licensed Material and may not be used without express permission:

  • The name Exodus, the name Exodus NDS, and all associated branding and trade dress
  • All original artwork, graphic design, and visual presentation specific to this publication
  • All Universe content, world-building, fiction, and flavor text in official Exodus Universes (defined as Universes published by Kaosweaver, Inc. or its licensed partners)
  • The Kaosweaver, Inc. dragon logo.

If you publish a work using Licensed Material from Exodus NDS Core Rules, you must include the following attribution:

Everything Else (All Rights Reserved)

Every other Exodus NDS book is © 2026 Kaosweaver, Inc., all rights reserved: the universe books, the sourcebooks and armories, the shipwright catalogs, the Era Books, adventures, accessories, character sheets, cards, and the web editions of all of them on this site and on the universe sites. That includes their text, rules text, setting, names, characters, factions, locations, tables, stat blocks, artwork, maps, diagrams, layout, and trade dress. None of it is Licensed Material, and none of it is released under the ORC License or any other open license.

Where one of those books repeats a core rule, only the rule as written in the Core Rules is Licensed Material. The book's own wording, examples, and presentation are not.

Permission

You may print and copy any Exodus NDS book for your own table. You may not publish one, or any part of one, as your own work, and you may not sell it or earn money from it, without written permission from Kaosweaver, Inc. That covers reuse of a book's setting, names, characters, or artwork in published work.

Just Ask

If you are making something with this material, such as a supplement, an adventure, a video, a stream, or a fan project, ask us. Kaosweaver, Inc. is generous with permission and usually asks no fee. What we do not allow is wholesale copying of our content or passing it off as someone else's work.

How to Ask

Ask on the Exodus NDS Discord (see Community). Tell us:

  • who you are and what you are making;
  • which book you want to use, and which parts of it;
  • where it will be published, and whether it will be sold or earn money.

Using only the Core Rules' Licensed Material under the ORC License needs no permission: follow the license and include the attribution above.
