Submachine Guns
A submachine gun fires pistol ammunition automatically. Every entry carries Auto-Fire: add 1 Trial Die to the attack, and on a hit spend 2 Boons for each additional hit, on the first target or on another within Short range of it.
Damage is one below the service pistol's. A character who never uses Auto-Fire is carrying a heavy, illegal pistol.
None of them has a Concealable rating. With a folding stock (Chapter 17) a submachine gun rates Concealable 1 under a coat.
Skill: Light Ranged throughout.

Light Ranged 400 Military Ballistic Auto-Fire
An automatic weapon firing pistol ammunition from the shoulder. It ruled close-range fighting from 1939 until the assault rifle replaced it in armies, and it never left police and security service.
Damage 5, Medium range, Auto-Fire: the reference numbers for the class. The damage sits one below the pistol that shares its cartridge. Auto-Fire is what the weapon is for.

Light Ranged 150 Military Ballistic Auto-Fire, Unreliable
A submachine gun stamped and welded from sheet steel for a tenth of the cost of a machined one. Millions were made in wartime, and their descendants are still made in back rooms.
It matches the Submachine Gun on every number at well under half the price. Unreliable is the cost: 2 Bane or a Calamity on the attack jams it until an action clears it.

A submachine gun in .45: heavier, slower-firing, and harder-hitting than the 9mm type.
Damage 6 with Auto-Fire is the only place in this chapter the class number moves, and it moves for a range band (Short), Cumbersome 2, and Encumbrance 3.

Light Ranged 900 Military Ballistic Auto-Fire, Pierce 1
A compact automatic firing a small, fast, pointed bullet designed to defeat soft body armour. It was built for vehicle crews and close-protection teams.
Pierce 1 on the submachine gun's numbers, at more than twice the price. Its ammunition is its own and is not found in a gun shop.
Suppressed Submachine Gun

Light Ranged 1100 Rare Ballistic Auto-Fire, Suppressed
A submachine gun built with the suppressor as part of the barrel. The gas is bled off to slow the bullet below the speed of sound, which costs it reach.
Auto-Fire and Suppressed together, at Short range. It does not need subsonic ammunition to be quiet; loaded with it, it counts as Silent.
