The Black Powder Armory

About This Book

Fifty-five weapons and nine armours across five centuries: the hand gonne and the matchlock, the flintlock pistols and boarding weapons of the age of sail, the revolvers and repeaters of the American West, and the trench gear of 1915. Twenty-five weapon and armour qualities, one of them new.

You get one shot. What you do next is the weapon. A flintlock fires once and takes two maneuvers to reload, so a pirate carries a brace of pistols and a cutlass, and a musketeer fixes a bayonet. Every lock in this book reloads at its own pace, from four maneuvers for a hand gonne to none for a lever-action repeater, and that pace is the history of the period.

This book stands alone. It fills the gap between The Ranged Armory, which stops before gunpowder, and The Modern Armory, which begins in 1939. It requires only the Exodus NDS core rules.

Carriage guns are out of scope. A ship's broadside, a field gun, and a siege mortar need a crew and a Universe's ship or siege rules. This book goes as far as the swivel gun on the rail.

Real Weapons and Trade Names

Entries in this book are generic types. The Also known as line under each names historical firearms of that type so a reader can recognise it. Where those names are trade names, they belong to their respective makers, and their use here is descriptive only.

This is a game book. Nothing in it is instruction in the use, manufacture, or modification of any weapon or explosive.
