The Chrome Market ยท Chapter 2
Reading an Entry
Weapons and armour are printed as they are in the other armories. Cyberware, bioware, programs, and drones are printed in tables.
Tier
Every entry is Near or Chrome. It is the first tier in which the item is sold.
Price and Availability
Price is in present-day US dollars, as in The Modern Armory. A Universe with its own currency uses one number for both.
| Tag | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Common | Sold in shops and clinics to anyone with the money |
| Restricted | Needs a licence, a badge, a prescription, or a corporate account |
| Military | Issued to armed forces and the security arms of the largest companies |
| Rare | Made in small numbers, or by one laboratory |
| Illicit | Against the law to sell or own. Bought through a fixer, at the fixer's price |
Chapter 11 has what it costs to buy what the law forbids.
Skills
| Task | Skill |

| Intrusion | Hacking: the Universe's own skill for it, or Craft where it has none |
| Flying or driving a drone by hand | Operate |
| Installing and repairing cyberware | Medicine to install, Craft to repair |
| Finding a seller | Streetwise |
Qualities New to This Book
Smart X
The weapon is linked to its user through a smartlink: an implant, Smart Glasses, or a Smart Helmet. While it is linked:
- Remove up to X Bane Dice from the attack that come from range, darkness, smoke, the target's movement, or the shooter's own.
- The shooter may fire from full cover, by holding the weapon out and aiming through the link, adding 1 Bane Die.
Without a link the weapon has no Smart rating. A Smart weapon is a device: it can be jammed, pulsed, and hacked (Chapter 8), and while it is shut down it will not fire at all unless it was bought with a manual trigger, which every Common and Restricted one has.
Airburst
The round bursts above or beyond what the target is behind. The weapon's Blast ignores cover, and the attack ignores Bane Dice from cover.
Scanner-Evasive
The item is made to pass a machine. A scanner wand or arch does not find it. A search by hand finds it as it would anything else.
Ion X
As in The Stellar Armory: on a hit, the weapon deals X System Damage to a vehicle or drone. This book adds what it does to a person with cyberware: see Chapter 5.
