Crown Meridian Ship Catalog · Chapter 8

Frigates and Carriers

The largest hulls Crown sells outside a government contract. Nobody buys one for themselves; a colony office, a security service or a convoy consortium holds the title and the crew is assigned to it.

The CM-640 Line

Vaultship Geometry hull in two generations, CM-640 to CM-640A.

The CM-640 is Crown's institutional frigate. It is not a ship you own. It is a ship you are assigned to, with a long armored keel and layered compartments for people who expect to spend a decade aboard the same hull.

Generation notes. CM-640 (Classic). Convoys and colony offices still ask for the first generation by name. CM-640A. A longer hangar deck with a second pair of doors carries more craft, with one more Module Slot, two more Hardpoint points and one more Power Capacity. It gave up Layered Redundancy to make the room.

Common Variants. Heavy transport, Convoy escort, Colonial supply ship, Troop carrier, Institutional frigate, Long-haul security vessel.

Builder Crown Meridian signature benefits and weak drawbacks; Integrated Architecture (Chapter 4). Armor counts as 5 against collisions, rams, and Critical Hits.

Trait Layered Redundancy: Once per encounter, after the CM-640 suffers System Damage, the engineer may choose one nonessential system. That system remains operational until the end of the next round even if it would otherwise shut down.

Trait Hangar Deck: Craft recover aboard the CM-640A with no check while neither ship is under fire or maneuvering (Vehicles Manual, Chapter 15, Recover). The CM-640A does not have Layered Redundancy.

The CM-720 Line

Vaultship Geometry hull in two generations, CM-720 to CM-720A.

The CM-720 is a convoy carrier, a mobile base for escort and boarding craft and the largest hull Crown sells to anyone but a government. Two Expanded Hangars sit behind a wide recessed hangar deck under a stepped superstructure.

Generation notes. CM-720A. One more module block on the top deck (a Repair Drone Bay), thicker radiator fins along the sides and a slightly deeper hull. The extra Heat Dissipation lets the hangar decks and the weapons run together.

Common Variants. Convoy command carrier, Marine assault tender, Fleet auxiliary, Colonial defense carrier.
