Crown Meridian Ship Catalog · Chapter 9

Signature Components

Modules and systems that only Crown builds. They are Native aboard a Crown hull and Certified aboard an Openframe hull. Everywhere else they are an integration with a difficulty.

Reading a Component

Slots and Minimum Scale work as in the module catalog. Cost is a multiplier on the standard module price (Vehicles Manual, Chapter 12). Acquisition is who may own it. A component marked Power adds Power Load while active.

Costs and rules here are first proposals and need table testing.

Reinforced Command Core. A protected secondary bridge. When a Critical Hit puts a crew station out of action, its crew move to the core as a Maneuver and act from it with no penalty. Communications from the core can be jammed only by Military electronic warfare. Factory fit on the CM-540. The Vehicles Manual, Chapter 10, prints the same module.

Citadel Bulkheads. A set of compartment bulkheads that localize a breach. When the ship would suffer a hull breach or decompression, only one compartment is affected, and checks to repair Hull Damage there remove 1 Bane Die .

Layered Power Bus. A Power Distribution upgrade, bought at build time or as a retrofit. Power Load may exceed Power Capacity by up to 2 before an engineer must act, instead of by exactly 1. Cost: 4 build points.

Registry Transponder. An honest, unspoofable transponder. Port inspections treat the ship as documented: checks to pass inspection remove 1 Bane Die . It cannot be turned off, so checks to enter Cold Running add 1 Bane Die.

Inspection Block. Crown's pattern of the customs inspection module. A sealed compartment with scanners that lets an officer search a docked ship or its cargo. Checks to search add 1 Boon Die .

Vault Hold. Crown's pattern of the secure cargo vault. Holds 10 Cargo Units of sealed freight. Checks to open it without the keys add 1 Bane Die , and it raises an alert when tampered with.

Marine Lock. A reinforced airlock sized for armored troops, with a collar interface for boarding craft. Boarding or repelling boarders at this lock removes 1 Bane Die from the Crown crew's checks.

Convoy Link. A data link that lets a ship run a formation. While the ship is within Short range of a friendly vessel, that vessel removes 1 Bane Die from checks to coordinate point defense. Needs Professional Directive AI. The CM-540's Convoy Anchor trait is this system built into the hull.
