Two Scale 4 hulls that work beside bigger ships and the sites they serve: a laboratory for what a survey brings back, and a hospital for what a disaster leaves behind.
The VN-44 Line
Ring-and-Core hull in two revisions, VN-44C1 to VN-44C2. Scale 4, Civilian grade.
The VN-44 is a research tender: a laboratory ship that works beside a station or a survey ship. It takes the samples, the probe returns and the records off a busier hull and reads them in a clean ring of its own. It is the hull a survey crew calls when the findings are larger than the ship that made them.
Revision notes. VN-44C1. A Science Lab and a Specialized Research Lab, a Sample Containment Module, a Probe Bay, a Sensor Drone Bay, a Workshop and a Medical Bay. One slot is open. VN-44C2. One more Module Slot and a larger sample store, 20 more Cargo Units, in a second shell ring behind the lab.

The VN-45 Line
Layered Shellcraft hull in two revisions, VN-45C1 to VN-45C2. Scale 4, Civilian grade.
The VN-45 is a medical ship: a relief hospital in a hull small enough to anchor over a disaster and set down beside it. Three Medical Bays, two Quarantine Modules and cold berths sit in layered shells around a protected core. It stands between the Mercy shuttle, which carries patients, and the VN-63 frigate, which keeps them for months.
Revision notes. VN-45C1. Three Medical Bays, two Quarantine Modules, Cryogenic Berths and Passenger Berths. One slot is open. VN-45C2. Two more Hull Points in a thicker outer shell and one more Module Slot. Both revisions are slow to turn.
