Viridian Ship Catalog ยท Chapter 1
The House of Viridian
Viridian Lattice Yards builds the most refined civilian and scientific vessels in known space. It is the shipwright of the Shoiyan Concord, an old and prosperous civilization shaped by bioengineering, continuity stacks and careful diplomacy, and it builds the Concord's civilian fleet.
Viridian sells the ship that keeps its people alive and informed, and asks only that its own yard keep the ship.
Medical networks, research institutes, charter lines, the Concord's ministries and anyone whose work depends on gathering or preserving valuable information buy a Viridian hull first. Its ships are known for advanced AI integration, medical support, environmental stability, sensor performance and continuity-stack handling. Every system is designed to work with every other, which is what makes the ship capable and what makes it hard to repair with anything else.
How a Spacer Reads a Viridian Ship
It knows. Viridian's Signature systems are the AI core, navigation, sensors, life support, the medical bay, stack vaults and clone support, and science labs. They are the systems that keep a crew alive and informed. A Viridian ship flags a fault a round before it happens, finds the seam before the navigator does, and meets the needs of every species aboard without being asked.
It does not explain. The same integration makes the ship dislike abuse. Viridian's Weak systems are field repair, improvised upgrades, heavy armor and crude weapon integration. A Viridian ship carries light armor and nothing heavier than a Standard gun, and a crew that patches it with the wrong parts finds out why the saying exists.
It is costly and particular. Price tier is very high. Financing runs through private wealth, Concord institutions, research grants and medical consortiums. Parts are excellent in Concord space and limited elsewhere, authorized service is restricted to certified yards, and the gray market is poor.
The saying along the docks: "A Viridian ship knows what is wrong before you do. It may not explain itself."

What This Book Covers
Ten ship lines. An executive shuttle, a medical transport shuttle, a scout courier, a diplomatic yacht, a research tender, a medical ship, a luxury spaceliner, a survey ship, a science and medical frigate and a continuity cruiser. They run from Scale 2 to Scale 7, the ceiling for commercial shipwrights.
Twenty-two hulls. Every line has two or three revisions. Viridian names a revision with a C-spec suffix, as a standard-revision filing: the VN-33C1, the VN-33C2, the VN-33C3. Five of the hulls are printed in the Vehicles Manual; the rest are new.
Every hull is built to one grade. Viridian is a Civilian yard, and every hull in this book is Civilian grade except the VN-53 liner, which is Professional. Chapter 2 explains what grade means for reading an entry.
Signature components. Chapter 10 lists the modules and systems that only Viridian builds, with their Native and Certified status.
Ownership, service and refit. Chapter 11 prices each revision new and used, and sets out the Service Seal, the way Viridian keeps its ship after it sells it.
What Viridian does not build. Freighters, gunships, heavy armor, salvage ships, and anything made to be repaired in a bad port. A crew that wants a Viridian ship to carry freight should look at Openframe, Viridian's Partner. The Responder ground ambulance is a Viridian vehicle but not a hull, and stays in the Vehicles Manual. The Concord's warships are built by the Strategic Lattice Works, a separate yard, and are not in this series.
Using This Book
The Vehicles Manual comes first. Where this book and the Vehicles Manual print the same Viridian hull (the Serenity C1, the Mercy C1, the VN-33C1, the VN-53C1 and the VN-63C2), the two stat blocks carry the same numbers. If they ever differ, the Vehicles Manual governs.
Class follows Scale. A hull's class matches the size category it sits in. The VN-63 is a frigate at Scale 6 and the VN-53 a luxury spaceliner at Scale 5, two Scales under the liner class, built for routes that cannot fill a larger hull.
Prices are catalog prices for a factory-new hull at a Viridian yard, with the factory package fitted. Chapter 11 has used prices.
Viridian is slow to explain. The Service Seal (Chapter 4) is the one rule a Viridian owner has to learn: a hull whose annual overhaul is done anywhere but a certified yard lapses its seal and loses the best of its integration.
