Openframe Ship Catalog · Chapter 9

Signature Components

Modules and systems that only Openframe builds. They are Native aboard an Openframe hull and Certified aboard a Crown Meridian, Kharos or Viridian hull, where they keep their effects. Aboard a Safa hull they are Adapted (Chapter 11).

Reading a Component

Slots and Minimum Scale work as in the module catalog (Vehicles Manual, Chapter Ten, Appendix: Module Catalog). Cost is a multiplier on the base module price for the hull's Scale (Vehicles Manual, Chapter Twelve). Acquisition is who may own it. A component marked Licensed is Licensed in the sense of the ownership rules; the Licensed slot rule (Chapter 4) applies to whichever slot it sits in.

Costs and rules here are first proposals and need table testing.

Cargo Clamp Rail. A rail of standard clamps along the spine. It holds six pods at Scale 4 and below and twelve above. Cargo handling checks made on its pods remove 1 Bane Die .

Pod Interface. A standard mount that takes any Openframe pod. Fitting or removing a pod takes one Action, with no Craft check, at a port with a loader.

Manifest Transponder. Transmits the ship's manifest and license status to every port. Customs declaration checks add 1 Boon Die . A manifest that does not match the fitted modules raises Authority Heat.

Trade Office. A shipboard office with access to the League's contract exchanges. Negotiation checks for a cargo contract add 1 Boon Die at a port with a League exchange.

Mission Section. A swappable workshop, lab or clinic container. While active, it counts as a Workshop, a Science Lab or a Medical Bay (the crew chooses when it is installed), and checks made with it add 1 Boon Die . Changing the active section takes half the normal time.

Docking Collar Set. Standard docking collars that fit every League port without adapters. Docking Pilot checks remove 1 Bane Die .

License Terminal. Shows the status of every Licensed slot, warns before a license lapses, and renews it by relay. A lapsed license can be restored within a day with no penalty fee.

Support Craft Cradle Set. Cradles for work pods and small craft: an External Docking Cradle for one craft of Scale 2 or 3. A craft launched from them adds 1 Boon Die to its first Pilot check (this is the Support Craft and Workshops benefit, Chapter 4; it does not add a second die).
