Safa Ship Catalog ยท Chapter 1
The House of Safa
Safa Celestial Arsenal builds the Jaziri Caliphate's security and pursuit hulls in yards across Jaziri space, under the license of the Sacred Arsenal Directorate.
Safa sells the ship that finishes what it was built to do, and nothing else.
It builds racers, interceptors, boarding craft, patrol boats, gunboats, corvettes, frigates, carriers and cruisers. Its ships are common wherever a government, a security contractor or a religious foundation needs a hull that will do one job without argument. Safa builds for buyers who expect to be vetted, registered, inspected and obeyed, and who want the ship to be the same.
How a Spacer Reads a Safa Ship
It is built for one thing. Safa's Signature systems are reactor output, fire control, electronic warfare, security, point defense and cyberdefense. Every one of them serves a hull that is meant to close, hold, strike or guard. A Safa engineer finds a reactor with headroom, a fire-control core that does not miss and a security architecture that treats every compartment as a checkpoint.
It resists becoming anything else. Safa's Weak systems are cargo flexibility, civilian comfort, open interfaces and improvised modification. A Safa hold is small and sealed. A Safa passenger cabin is correct and cold. A Safa panel will not take another maker's part without complaint, and the firmware knows the difference between a repair and a conversion.
It is certified. Every Safa hull carries a Certification Seal registered to a named holder. Parts are good through licensed channels and poor everywhere else. Authorized service is strictly controlled, the gray market is dangerous and expensive, and a modified hull can fail authentication at a checkpoint and be disabled where it sits.
Its crews are many. Jaziri space is not one species and not one costume, and a Safa crew can be any of them. The hull does not care who is aboard. It cares that every person aboard is on the list.
The saying along the docks: "A Safa ship does exactly what it was built to do. Pray you need the same thing."

What This Book Covers
Ten ship lines. A courier-racer, a pursuit craft, a heavy fighter, a boarding craft, a patrol boat, a strike cutter, an escort corvette, a security frigate, a strike carrier and a security cruiser. They run from Scale 2 to Scale 7, the ceiling for commercial shipwrights.
Twenty-five hulls. Every line has two or three versions. Safa numbers a version as a sport code: the S3, the S3.1 and the S4. A decimal is a refit of the same frame. A whole number is a new frame.
Every hull is built to the same grade. Safa sells to security buyers who are vetted, so every hull in this book is built to the Professional operator tier. Chapter 2 explains how to read an entry's stat block.
The Cathedral Axis. Safa builds its capital hulls on the Cathedral Axis, a tall, upright reactor spine between docking courts. Three lines carry it: the S6 security frigate, the S19 strike carrier and the S7 security cruiser. Chapters 8 and 9 give them.
Signature components. Chapter 10 lists the components that only Safa and its three Contractor Partners build, with their status aboard each maker's hulls.
Ownership, certification and refit. Chapter 11 gives the Seal, the transfer fee, the certified-yard surcharge and the cost of every refit.
What Safa does not build. Freighters, liners, tenders, tugs, yachts, survey, science, medical and salvage ships, and any hull made to haul or to host. A crew that wants a Safa ship to carry freight is asking the wrong yard; Openframe, Safa's Open compatibility, builds the hauler.
What this book does not print. The Sacred Arsenal Directorate's own hulls, the Purifier and the Deliverer, are not for sale to private buyers and are not in this book. The Vehicles Manual prints them as sovereign hulls. The S7 is not a Deliverer, and Chapter 9 says how the two differ.
Using This Book
The Vehicles Manual comes first. The Vehicles Manual prints three Safa starships and one Safa small craft: the S3, the S5, the S6 and the Talon. They are the first versions of their lines in this book, and every number in their stat blocks is the same in both books. Where the two books differ, the Vehicles Manual is right.
Class follows Scale. A hull's class matches the size category it sits in. The S6 is a security frigate at Scale 6 and the S7 a security cruiser at Scale 7 (Vehicles Manual, Chapter Four, Class Table).
Prices are catalog prices for a factory-new hull at a Safa-certified yard, with the factory package fitted. Chapter 11 has used prices, the transfer fee and the refit surcharge.
Acquisition is not grade. Every Safa hull is Professional grade. Some are sold Licensed and most are sold Restricted; the entry says which.
